Unpopular opinion: Mook Is Toxic for Gaitok - The White Lotus Season 3

I really liked this storyline, but I felt sad at the last scene when Gaitok drives with Sritala in his sunglasses while Mook looks at him happily after he became who she wanted him to be, not who he is.

Here’s why I think Mook is toxic and bad for Gaitok:

She loves him when he’s somebody other than himself, when he matches what she wants.

In other words: conditional love

When he didn’t want to kill or be violent, she said, “I thought you were ambitious.”

Well, what does this have to do with that?

Toxic people tend to do that. If you refuse to do something that’s a red line, for example, you refuse to meet them at 12 am because you wake up early for your work, they be like, “I thought you loved me!” Yo! What does this have to do with that??

This could be disguised as “I’m pushing you to be a better version of yourself.” Well, what’s wrong with this version?

In other words: manipulation

Gaitok is gonna be ecstatic with the new job and the new girlfriend for some time, but one day, he’s going to look in the mirror and not recognize himself.

That’s how you know you’re in a toxic relationship. When you realize that you’ve abandoned who you are to be with them because they gave you the world when you changed.

I hate to break it to you, but Mook could be a bit narcissistic..
